Deux Vert Vineyard can be found at the two mile marker off of Highway 240. We’re at the top of the hill where Morelli Drive deadends. The land was purchased in 1992 and we began planting the vineyard in 1994 with subsequent plantings in 1995, 1998, 1999 and 2001. To our knowledge Deux Vert has the oldest plantings of viognier and syrah in the county, if not the state. Today, we grow 5 different varietals: melon, viognier, syrah, pinot noir, and tempranillo. Our grapes are sold to six different wineries.
We have kept the tempranillo for our own label. The 2006 vintage will be our first release (all of 20 cases) targeted for May 2007. Currently, we have 2 barrels in process from our 2007 harvest.

There is a total of 14.5 acres planted. The first planting (melon and viognier) was planted in 1994. This was followed in 1995 with syrah, 1998 with pinot noir, 1999 with more pinot noir and syrah and 2001 with tempranillo. Currently, we have .5 acres of tempranillo, 1.25 acres of melon, 3 acres of viognier, 6 acres of pinot noir, and 3.75 acres of syrah.

Viticultural philosophies and practices:
Deux Vert Vineyard is sustainably farmed and a member of LIVE. Our farming philosopy is to take the best practices from various farming approaches (organic, bio-dynamic, etc.) but not be restricted by any one of them. We are a dry farmed, non-tilled vineyard. Our spray program is limited to bio-pesticides only. We maintain buffer zones throughout and have recently added a two acre riparian zone.

Francis-Tannahill: Syrah (the Mason in the Mason-Dixon blend)
And with the 2006 vintage of the tempranillo, we are producing wine under our own label - Deux Vert!
